Abstract

Introduction: The World Health Organization states that Brazil is the country with the most anxious people in the world, becoming one of the biggest public health problems today. This disorder can manifest itself at various times in life, with physical exercise being one of the allies in reducing and preventing symptoms. Objective: To analyze the influence of physical exercise on people with anxiety, identifying the existing relationships between them. Method: The method used was of a qualitative nature, being an integrative descriptive review. Scientific articles were selected using descriptors in the Scielo, Medline, Lilacs and Pubmed databases. Results: Four articles were selected. They used similar methods to obtain the results of their studies, modifying the instruments of tests, tooth, ergometric, anamnesis and interviews. The studies found subjected people to physical exercises between 1 and 12 weeks. Conclusion: It was identified that biopsychosocial interactions cannot be dissociated, and physical exercise is an enhancer in improving anxiety disorder, having anxiolytic effects, improving well-being and quality of life. Individuals subject to hypoxia are more likely to have anxiety disorder. The efficiency of recreational sport for reducing anxiety was noted, but in competitive sports, pre-competitive effects may occur, demonstrating the relevance of the mental health professional.
